  it`s christmas eve here in australia today and i wish all of you a very merry xmas simply because i can without being zapped , or hauled into a jc committee.. it doesn`t matter whether you are religious or not , i`m not now , however i can appreciate and respect those who do.. so whatever your views on the matter have a great day and enjoy the holidays in whatever grabs your fancy.. and if jw`s do come knocking on your door as they do this festive season wish them a merry xmas and anti-witness to them ..

  Urgh, I got a dummy text from an uber Dub on Jan 5 this year:

  JW: Hey, I have a question for your dad as the only article is in a WT91 that I can't seem to access. [Fiance's name]'s grandma just died, is it appropriate to send flowers to his mum. It doesn't seem to be an issue from google bbut I just want to make sure it's not pagan or something???

  Me: I'll check his bound volume library when I go over this afternoon. They put flowers in a KH for a funeral, hon, so don't sweat too much over it. X

  JW: YeAh I thought it was fine but I rather play it safe then regret later. Thanks heaps, it's just not available electronically

  Me: [MMS of Sep 15 1991 WT Questions from Readers, "Is it Right for Christians to send flowers for a funeral?"]

  JW: Ahhhh so it's okay. Thank you so much!!!!

  Me: You can send flowers after all, just not in the shape of a cross or pentagram, lol.

  something just dawned on me today as i processed my assimilation into the real world (thanks to our new poster, @jester, giving me a major throwback to my first post).. when you're a jehovah's witness, you really are in some sort of la la land.

  a couple of times at the meetings this year we've been told that in the future we might get some strange directions from the society that might not make any sense to us.

  then they've said will we show our loyalty to jehovah by still obeying?

  seems a rather unusual thing to say.

  @Jrjw Perhaps start asking, "if these men are neither inspired nor infallible and are subject to erring in doctrinal matters, where are they getting these instructions from that won't make sense from a human standpoint?"

  They do, after all, claim to be "imperfect men" when they f*ck up royally. So when these instructions they issue don't make sense to the rest of us imperfect humans, the same can be said for these men at the top who are making the rules as they go.

  Why on earth would you want to follow orders from someone who they themselves can't make sense of the commands? This is a recipe for disaster.

  "Loyal" isn't even the right word to describe it. It is reckless.

  @pale.emperor You know how you disarm JWs with their jargon by calling it "the religion" instead of "the Truth"? From here on out, we should start referring to these so-called "privileges" as "rights".

  If any JW asks me about my journey as a Witness in my cong, I'll casually talk about how I worked really hard as a single mother balancing out meetings, etc, etc, "and eventually, the elders gave me back my rights." Or if someone hasn't been commenting lately and JWs are talking about how so-and-so has been quiet at the meetings, I'll say, "maybe the elders took away his rights."

  Hopefully that causes some thought provocation! We never think of these things as Witnesses.

  Something just dawned on me today as I processed my assimilation into the real world (thanks to our new poster, @Jester, giving me a major throwback to my first post).

  When you're a Jehovah's Witness, you really are in some sort of la la land. Things which are perfectly normal are acts of eating from the table of the demons. Things which are horribly grotesque and extremely unjust are branded as "righteousness". And when you're in that tiny little JW bubble (which feels like the WHOLE WIDE WORLD to you), the Witnesses hold the monopoly on setting standards and it's the entire world which falls short.

  Something as basic as speaking. Yes, just talking. This, in JW land is referred to as a PRIVILEGE. Your basic human right of contributing to a public discussion is something to be earned. To hold a microphone... that's another "privilege". Now that I'm out and thinking of these things from a regular person's perspective, I've realized just how demented and manipulative that truly is. The entire set up demotes us human beings as some scummy slaves who need to EARN their right to open their mouths when in the presence of others. It's packaged as a privilege to JWs to make sure they know their lowly place and be eternally grateful just to contribute verbally.

  It's almost like some 18th century slavery in colonial America where the blacks were denied their basic rights and the whites perhaps chose to toss them some filthy scraps to eat and considered that a "privilege" for the oppressed.

  I can't believe I never noticed this while still in. It all felt so normal and nothing to even question/raise eyebrows at! Looking in from the outside reveals a very different story. Each week that goes by and I think I'm fully awake, I come to realize there's more to uncover from all the deep-seated cult ideals that were instilled in me. No, it is not a privilege to speak or assist at functions (be it with sound equipment or taking inventory for stock). This is my right. This is my standard. This is what I do.

  Anyone who tells you otherwise is still living in the vicinity of this la la dictatorship. Being given the privilege to open your mouth and utter words is as much of a "privilege" as being allowed to step out of your house wearing clothes. For those of you still in, STOP letting the WT strip you naked. It's humiliating and keeps you from noticing their own bare shame.

  Work Colleague Went To a JW Funeral - His Experience

  so the guy in my office on the desk next to me has just got back from the funeral of his wifes sister.

  this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.

  she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.

  This kind of inspires me to get out in Field Service again. Except this time, I'd like to knock on my territory's doors and warn people of the true nature of the Jehovah's Witness cult that will come knocking on their doors intermittently in the near future.

  Either that, or make flyers to distribute in mail boxes with a brief statement about the harboring of pedophiles and the diminished capacity of each JW member due to cult indoctrination; that they are counting time to report to their headquarters if ever they show personal interest in a householder. And that they have been manipulated into believing that this will ensure their salvation (KM Jun 2012) so that they can separate who WILL survive a gruesome death at Armageddon (those householders whom they recruit/convert) and those who will perish and become bird food.
